As I wake from my slumber and open my eyes
I gaze at the marshmallow clouds filling the skies.
They slowly merge together, drifting one by one
As if they were making room for the emerging sun.
Then before too long, the golden sphere makes its daily ascent
Reaching further and further, it will not relent.
Now, the sky is telling me the day has officially begun
Before I race off, there is something that must be done.
I choose to give thanks for the beauty all around
I gaze in wonder and listen to every sound.
From the kookaburras laughing in the regal gum trees
Perched on the branches, swaying gently in the breeze.
To the bees sipping nectar from the flowers below
Filling their stomachs until they almost overflow.
Mother Nature is truly a miracle, one thing is for sure
We must nurture and respect the wonders around us, not only now but forever more.
