Tall eucalyptus trees,

Branches I can reach for.

Food fills my belly,

I can always ask for more.

I lay peacefully on my mother’s back,

Her soft grey coat comforts me.

My life is a delightful dream,

I can do what I like, I am free.

An unnatural buzz fills the air,

While workmen slave away.

As trees are traumatised,

We wonder, shall we stay?

Before long night approaches.

Stray cats start to roam,

They seem to be new to us.

Although, this was not their home!

My sacred place, no longer.

Mother Nature is in distress.

It is time to leave my home,

No longer untamed wilderness.
