I grip the handlebars tighter,
Up, down, around again.
I breathe in the smell of wildflowers,
Birds tweeting their melodies.
It’s magical.
Like a grotto,
But so much more thrilling.
I speed down the courses,
Flying like a bird.
The canopy of trees above
Lets in specks of sunlight,
Highlighting the radiant green shrubs.
Nothing else matters,
Time has stopped for me
To go up, down, around again.
Me, my bike and the earth,
It was like we were made
To join together
And experience the peace, the tranquillity
Of this exhilarating mountain bike track.
