An ivory milky frosted pearl, like a moon shining.
Around it there are five fragile, thin, silver-metal leaflets
Like when the sunset is stretching across the ocean.
A metal petiole that looks like grey waves
And an argent metal circlet.
My treasure that was bequeathed to me
From my great grandmother.
I can remember I saw her in bed in a hospital
At Nagoya, Kasugae in Japan.
She had short white hair,
White as the clear snow and her eyes black like the night sky.
My beloved, adored treasure from my great grandmother
Handed to me by her soft hand.
As the brooch travelled to a new cheerful lifecycle
I held it softly in my hands and whispered to the brooch,
'I will look after you until the next bright life.’
