My First Piece of Clothing

As a soft pair of gloved hands pick me up,
I am taken out of the pink and red world,
The world is new and colourful, where am I?
I am on the Earth.
A harmony of cries, I join in,
Then a pleasant smile,
A white and pink gown,
Is placed over my small head,
It is as soft as baby silk,
The stitching is complex,
But it is fashionable,
That was my first piece of clothing.
The smell is strong of Sri Lanka,
At the same time, the smell of love,
My parents and my family,
Now I can’t wear it,
Isn’t it such a shame?
I would pass it on,
From generation to generation
Long Live The Gown!
