My Gold Coin Ring

Some may think it merely a token
Of a long past vacation
But you would be foolishly mistaken
As my gold coin ring is inexplicably much more than that
My gold coin ring
Is a conduit to time
Linking me to the past, present and future so sublime
The noble profile of Alexander the Great
Reminds me of values I hold dear
The weight and cool metal on my finger
ground me in the present moment without fear
The knowledge that one day my children
Grandchildren
And great grandchildren will wear this ring
Draws me to the future so near
My gold coin ring is a conduit to family
My sister whom I hold dear
But lives not near
Is transported from afar
When I gaze upon
My gold coin ring
This is no mere adornment of superficial purpose
But a talisman that connects me to humanity
My gold coin ring
Makes me wonder
Who in far away places and times held you in their hands?
What were you traded for?
And so much more
My gold coin ring
Makes me wonder
Who will wear you in the future?
Will they feel connected to me?
Through
My gold coin ring
