As I sit on the log and thread the needle between branches

the sun blinds me like a yellow flower

out of the corner of my eye

Reflecting off the sun

tweet tweet,

I look up and see,

through a maze of branches,

a gigantic goanna

I take a minute to look at it

I keep running despite the fact I just saw that goanna

Once I reach my dam I hear nipping of claws,

warming laughter from my friends as I pull out the yabby trap

And see at least a dozen yabbies,

Let's goooooo!

I cheer

And there's still kangaroo bait I realize.
