I lay on Bali’s warm black sand.

The sun is warm and soothing on my delicate skin.

The subtle rustle of the palm trees is quiet.

A strong scent of incense fills the air.

This is my home.

Where I belong,

Where I'm safe,

Where I'm happy.

Volcanos rise above the horizon.

Boats slowly float in an endless sea.

The streets are busy.

The stores are open.

Friends meet and say hi.

Others leave and say goodbye.

I close my eyes.

My home.

My culture.

My family.

The sun is out of sight.

Now the whole island says goodnight.
