My Home

I gaze at the soaring ancient gum trees
As they dance in the wind
And I ponder my surroundings
A living picture scene.
Trunks the colour of rust
Luminous light shines on me
From the golden rays of the sunset.
The sun turns to a dull yellow
I enter the forest turning mellow
Amongst the birds chirping in the air
The melody sets me to stare.
My feet stumble on the bare pebbled layer
I peer to my left and catch a glimpse of
Wildflowers blooming with floral tones.
I sit below the horizon as the pastel blue sky lightens,
This forest is my home
My place to roam
Australia’s open land will always be……
My Home.
