My Inneston (Innes National Park)

Crumbling ruin in battered landscape,
A reminder of times passed.
Protecting me
A haven against the storm
Swish, swish
Wind whipping up leaves
Eucalypts waving their fingers to the sky
Water cascading off the boughs
Clouds scurrying to the horizon
Sodden earth beneath my feet
Sunlight reflecting off shimmering sea
Sweet elixir on the wind
Roo darting through the scrub
Birds singing from their shelter
Smoke swirling above the treetops
The warmth of the old house beckoning me
