My Old Teddy Bear

When I tried on my first pair of glasses,
my mum said that I looked at her
like I had never seen her before.

When I tried on my first pair of glasses,
I opened my eyes,
and realised that,
I had been seeing through a veil of misconception.

When I tried on my first pair of glasses,
I discovered that the world,
Is a lot more beautiful,
than I had initially thought.

When I tried contact lenses for the first time,
a mental wall of separation was broken down,
I was no longer different
Just because I required glass to see the same as my friends.

Now when I try on my first pair of glasses,
I realise that in truth,
I see the world better than I did before.
