My Photo Album

A girl walks to the bookshelf and sees
So many books screaming READ ME! READ ME!
But she notices there is one not like the others
Like a peacock among magpies
The photo album it doesn’t scream
Doesn’t yell but whispers "remember"
She pulls it out and opens it up and sees
Pictures of familiar faces holding a baby, the first niece and daughter to come for another 2 years
A baby girl with blonde hair on the edge of white and brown eyes like coffee dregs
Adored by family and loved so much words can never describe
She turns over a couple of pages
And there sits the same girl grown up, now walking and talking yet young and not knowing of her losses of family who are being taken care of in heaven
But there are two more girls
Her first two cousins, they were goldfish so mysterious and so many secrets yet they loved her company and vice versa she loves them so much even when they fought and said they hated each other because she knew they would forget about it in 10 minutes
She swished through more pages but they were interesting and filled with wonder so much happened so quick so fast
A sister was born so sweet and innocent a change of house and a step dad it all entered her life so fast she didn’t know what to do and started to stress and didn’t understand but her problems melted when she was with her brand new sister on which she had been wishing for, for a very long time
She still flips through the pages into a primary school student skipping the bullying the hurt and the misery and sees a very sad girl that hides behind a smile school was her horrifying nightmare that she couldn’t awake from but also her sweet, sweet dream it was like Alice in wonderland only for real
The pages jumped ahead now looking at a happy girl in high school who loves the class she’s in and the teachers she learns from she no longer hides her sadness because there’s no sadness to hide the girl closes the book and puts it away knowing there are many pages to fill
Some days we take life for granted but there are still many pages to fill whether you fill them with sad pictures or happy is up to you whether you decide to ignore a bully or stand up for yourself whether you decide to make a world a better place with a great invention or just by being by someone’s side we all have a photo album to fill and it is up to you what you fill it with.
