My Prayer Mat

My prayer mat is soft
like my dead grandfather’s jumper
that I used to feel
when he used to cuddle me
when I used to sleep at his house.

When I pray I feel l that I am safe
as I was snuggled in my grandfather’s arms.

I feel as safe when I am sitting
with my family in my home
in Australia.
