My Precious Stone

A shiny gemstone in the light,
Such a deep and beautiful sight,
Small and tiny on my hand,
It has a large base, so it can stand,
This is my precious stone.
Different shades of purple colour,
It has a smooth and shiny cover,
Rings in layers of deep shades,
White and misty as it fades,
With milky streaks and cloudy swirls.
Smooth as glass across my finger,
Gold hints inside that linger,
Shaped like a topless cone,
It's just a light and icy cold stone,
Without the warmth of my clasp.
A special gift for my birthday,
I hold it up and then I say,
My wishes and my thoughts too,
I hope someday they will come true,
For this is my precious stone.
