My Sunflower Will Always Grow

I planted a sapling beneath the trees,
In a hidden patch kissed by the breeze.
I wished upon a shooting star that one day it would grow,
I gathered all my ingredients and lots of hope, working under the sun’s warm and mighty glow.
A small yellow bud shot through the air,
It’s colour, sweeter than a pear,
I used my supersonic speed to rake away the leaves and sorrow
Turning all the soil ready for tomorrow.
Then he arrived, he finally came,
My Nonno’s smile, sweet enough to frame,
He knelt and showed me how to sow,
His stories helped my garden grow
We sat and laughed till the moonlight gleamed
I had more fun than I ever dreamed.
Now my sunflower proudly stands-
A gift we grew with loving hands.
Through every storm, both good and bad,
I’ll always love my Nonno
