It’s worth more than gold or silver,
Sheer crystal fixed in gold,
My grandfather gave this gift to me,
‘keep it safe’ he once told.

He sadly left his father,
And stumbled to the boat,
He was handed the precious treasure,
And bellowed ‘I will surely stay afloat’.

As I first held them in my hands,
They hugged me oh so tight,
Just like he once did,
Every single night.

The journey the cufflinks took,
Astonishes me every time,
I love them ever so much,
And now they are truly mine.
