My Tree (Eucalyptus)

Tall and proud
Branches stretching to the sky
Roots a mirror image of my branches
Reaching towards the cool water underneath my roots
My trunk is smooth and twisting
Like a river to the sky
My branches are like fingers probing the skies back
Like a giant masseuse
My leaves are like arrowheads, long and thin
Swishing in the breeze
Possums use my hollows as a home
Birds use my branches as a safe place to build a nest
In winter, I am devoid of leaves, but summer is the opposite, providing a shady place to rest
In spring, I have flowers, but in autumn, my leaves are red and orange
When I was younger, children would come and climb amongst my strong boughs,
But now all they do is play video games inside
What will you do for oxygen
when there is not enough, when there is not enough to go round?
