My Tree Friend

I planted you with Dad
On a winter’s afternoon
You look so tiny and little in my hands
Your green little hands reaching out to me
Asking for a cuddle and kiss
As I grew and grew
You grew with me.
I shared all my secrets with you
Knowing they were safe with you
You became my place of peace and happiness
During hard times and happy ones too.
You were left behind when I had to go
But you stayed with me wherever I’d go
As I returned you were there waiting for me
Your little branches are now so big
Swinging and dancing in the warm summer wind
Trying to tell me that you were not alone
You were covered by beautiful bird’s nests
I felt so happy for you my friend
All I wanted to tell you this is not the end
