Sitting on my window sill, right beside my bed
Comforts me when I feel sad,
Recalling the happiness of when I first received it
Presented to me at the Nipper’s ceremony
Reminds me of my mum, always shiny and bright
Like my dad, it brings good luck
It smells like a railing covered in dirty fingerprints, musty with dust
It feels bumpy and looks like a star shining in the night’s sky
I carefully trace my fingers over my name written in real silver
And run them over the shimmering gold border
Although the trophy is now faded and chipped
I still hold it tightly so it won’t drop and break
The colours are beautiful, polished silver and gold
When I look at it, some of the sparkles reflect in my eyes
I would be so sad if it were to break
For I know I will never have another one as beautiful
No-one knows how special it is to me
Some of my closest friends and relatives have never seen it
I keep it as a hidden treasure just for me
My beautiful golden trophy
