My Yellow Rug

Rectangular pale yellow furry fleece
Soft thick and hand stitched
The same size as me
From the tips of my toes
To the top of my head
Soft and fluffy, just like my dog
Who soundly sleeps on it
Who once playfully chewed the corner
My dog sits on it: on the couch
Or in front of the fire
The rug keeps him safe
A part of him stays with my rug
NOBODY else uses it
Except my dog and I
From an early age, since I was 1
I have had it on my bed
Slept with it
And taken it with me
On sleepovers, and long road and camping trips
This rug has always been with me
