The night-time echo of a dingo’s howl,
A white noise background to the songs of birds,
And the hiss of a few reptiles on the prowl.
A scene that one could not put into words.
Trees creaking give music to every ear,
Look around and take it all in, steady,
The flashlight moon, an answer to all fear,
So many things to explore. Are you ready?
But bedtime is soon, a time of sorrow,
I guess our exploring can wait ‘til tomorrow.
I wake up with an excited yawn,
Another day to venture ‘round.
Sun rises on another dawn,
Over every hill and mound.
The outback is the place for me,
Away from people and cars and sounds,
So much more to do and see,
I can finally hear when my own heart pounds.
