Flowers as green as the grass after the rain drizzles down,

It grows, full of life reaching high into the sky.

Sometimes hiding away from the naked eye,

It doesn’t often show because it’s really shy.

Its bark crinkly and flaky like a snakes shedded skin,

Some are tall, some are small.

Dark green leaves, smooth along the edges,

When it’s young its leaves are orange and red.

Nightcap Oak as old and bold as the cold rainy weather,

Growing fruit only once a year.

Around the forest it lives,

Found mostly along the creeks that trickle on by.
