Ocean, sweet ocean, what secrets do you hold?
You spread far and wide; your currents warm and cold,
You’ve been here from the beginning,
Before the glaciers were thinning,
Before we invented plastic, then dumped it in your heart.
If we keep going at this pace,
Our environment will be out of place,
Ice melting in the Arctic, almost gone by 2030,
Weather no longer sturdy,
Turtles missing.
And our problem with overfishing, even worse.
I know, it's hard to hear,
But the issue is severe,
We need to STOP, spread awareness,
Because everyone acts so careless.
We walk around like zombies,
Buying balloons and plastic crowns,
Even though we know deep down…
Deep, deep, down.
It all ends up in you.
