Once, she was tall; her eyes shining with beauty and pride,

All confidence and happiness, no sadness in sight,

Cloaked in her colours of blue and green,

Respected, and loved, by all she could see.

Once, she was aglow with critters, and willowy trees,

Peaceful humans, and humming bees,

But now, she is as silent as death,

Her waters are poisoned, and so is her health.

Now, she is buckling, hit in the side,

Her trees are all gone, and so is her pride,

The humans are fighting, they are killing the land,

What once was pretty, is now bleak and bland.

Now, she is pale, the world in distress,

The pollution is covering her in a grey dress,

The flora has shrunk to wasted brown sticks,

The fauna is dead; filled with big plastic bits.

Now, her heart and soul are torn apart,

But yet, she still hopes for a fresh start,

That maybe someday, she will become,

The beautiful earth that she once was.
