One Small Award

One small piece of paper, with a sparkly sticker,
May have no meaning to others.
But ever since the day I've earned it,
It has been one of my special treasures.
Receiving this award, about a quarter of a page,
With a 'Well done' in the corner,
Is quite a big deal when you're only four,
And on the third day of kindy, it's an honour.
Not knowing how to read the word,
My mum gave me a clue.
It said that I was becoming an artist,
Which later on became true.
I looked at the award and found a witch,
Who had no colour in her body.
So I took out all the markers I owned,
And tried to make her look pretty.
So now whenever I see this award,
I think of what I was feeling.
When I coloured it in, trying to be the artist,
Who since to third day of kindy, has been growing.
