The beloved Australian animals come out and roam,
As the bright yet quiet noon grows.
Kookaburras sing their loud sharp tunes,
for the quokkas in the misty warm afternoon.
Everyone is dancing with the trees,
Not one of them has a frown as the sun goes down.
Friday family movie night filled with crickets croaking,
There is fun as the dark sacred night grows.
Everyone is sleeping peacefully in bed,
Except for the frogs who rest on the lily pads.
Flowing water is the soundtrack,
As the ominous night closed.
The dogs are up and chasing  possums,
Barking as loud as can be.
As the orange-tinted sunrise rose,
I walk with friends, listening
To the rosellas in the swaying gumtrees,
While the cold wicked morning thaws.
Midday warmth dries my feet,
I love living in this land down under.
