My kin have fallen

And even as they regrow

And begin to reclaim our territory

The apes that once sheltered in our branches

Come with their great metal beasts

And sever us at our roots again.

Even I, the tallest of our clan

was not safe.

They hacked and sawed away at me

until I plummeted to the forest floor.

Despite this I have remained,

My great roots allowing me to begin regrowing,

However I know me and my brethren,

Gathered around me,

Are the last of our kind,

And soon we too shall be departed.
