Our Environment

Wind howls in the plains where forests once stood
Noxious grey clouds fill the sky
If we told them to stop, they could have or would
But we didn’t bother to try
Ice caps melt and sea levels rise
In front of our eyes spilled oil does lie
With every piece of plastic that a person buys
Somewhere out there, a sea creature will die
Nature brings harmony and life to us all
Every branch a memory, stiff and strong
Everyone can help just by doing something small
To prevent the downfall, it won’t be long
Now we write poems, a tree for each
It’s high time for sustainability
A healthy environment is within reach
And we can use that ability
So as the air is thick with pollution
And the trees continue to fall
Know that we are the resolution
And we can save it all
