The sunset in the middle of a distant land,

feeling the fresh air of the ocean, our favourite place,

where birds chirp and kids lay hands in their mother’s hand.

When you miss someone you can’t help but cry,

A hug from your mother’s love will never dry.

As I sit on the sand, watching the sun go down,

with teary eyes because I know it has been a while,

since the last time I saw her.

Every time we are apart, her lack of presence aches like a lost limb,

but despite how many miles are stitched into the highways,

between us, I still feel our connection in fate’s threads.

I’m counting down the days, minutes, hours, seconds,

I get to be in your arms again, false flattering hope.

She loved me before I was born,

I was welcomed into this world with unconditional love,

that never ceases.

Though my heart is empty from how long it’s been since I’ve touched her skin,

moments alone will lead to a lifetime together, and what I have is well worth the wait.

still waiting for her, for my mother, here in our favourite ocean.
