Piano

Black, white, black, white –
88 keys,
Glossy varnish, brown wood –
Shimmering strings.
Tap it: hollow sound,
Sniff it: wooden smell,
Play it now:
Bold, clear sound.
Arpeggios ripple and glide,
Scales climb and fall again,
Long glissando slide,
Legato phrases soothe the ear.
Climactic chords,
Runs of octaves,
Opening fanfares,
Closing whispers.
Now I reach out, I touch the keys,
Caress them,
I lose myself inside the world…
…of the piano.
