Plastic in nature

Palm trees loom high above
protecting me from the blazing
fireball in the sky that lightens the earth.
As I look over the orange horizon,
glimpses of plastic, shiny and reflective
float by, floating silently
into the ocean, into the bellies of sea creatures.
Tears trickle down my face as I
see poor sea animals get sick from
plastic ...
a useful material for mankind, but oh so toxic to wildlife.
