Plethora

I stare across the horizon, a deep expanse of grey
Waves of life do not pass through, no matter what the day.
I see a spout of colour, red and gold and green
And think of how the ocean, once could have been seen
And since the day esprit went anew, all signs of time went with it too
The full montage of being free, was swept from under all creatures’ feet
Before this time, the colours shone with dazzling shades of May
The sun kissed sky, the rich blue sea, the poppy blooms array
Now the sun of time has set, causing havoc and much fear
we must now pay the price for this, our destruction of what was here.
On this planet we must say goodbye, as all the oceans have gone dry
A sad song the seas did sing, as people went on harbouring
A plethora once, now gone for good, nature’s beauty slayed by humanhood
Forever gone so much is due, for all of life has gone anew.
