The smell of wet grass and plants lured me to the window

I looked outside to see nothing but rain.

The sound of raindrops trickling on the rooftop reminded me of the rainforest

The tall, thick, tree trunks,

With the calming sound of leaves rustling with each droplet landing on top

The harmonic melody of birds singing,

The earthy smell of the rain engulfed my nose

I felt the damp, wet ground with my bare feet

The misty fog made it hard to see.

The family of toucans called out for each other,

I listened carefully to their conversation and watched them fly over me

All of a sudden, the sky shifted back to the classroom ceiling.

I look back outside through the window

not a single soul in sight

Nothing but a bright, shining sun,

Drying up the forest, stripping the animals and plants away.

I was soon brought back to reality,

convincing myself that it was nothing more than some made-up fantasy or illusion I was experiencing

I thought to myself...
