Remember September, December

Remember September, December, the embers
Of the last soul-nourishing fire in the coldest winter midnight spent dreaming and staring at the glittering stars
The wind blows and the thunder, the thunder – she roars into the silence
The lightning flashes appreciatively, cheering on the storm
A bright, earthy green leaf falls to the ground, slowly, slowly
The rain patters down like confetti
And it makes the rivers run
Nature gives to us, it strengthens us, it gives us peace
It's how we survive
What's the least we can do?
We can remember it.
Remember September, December
The blazing sun of summer and the calming orange leaves of autumn
The glimmer of the sunlight dancing on the surface of the clear lake
Why is this paradise so forgotten?
Remember it
It remembers us
Remember, remember, remember.
