Remnant River Red Gum: Eucalyptus camaldulensis

The old man
points his gnarled fingers
in mute accusation
at the sky.
His face is a stony landscape
of rivers long dead,
their valleys carved deep
in his greying flesh.
He runs a shaking hand
through his dishevelled leaves
and squints one eye at the sky.
The other,
rheumy, blind with cataracts,
sees all that was.
