Resilience Of Hope

The bright colour reminds me of hope, the vibrant petals stand strong against the brutal wind
Reminding me of the country meadows I visited with my grandparents so long ago
Reminding me of new beginnings with the outer petals dying and the new ones standing stronger, brighter than before
It reminds me of resilience every time it gets stepped on,
Or knocked down, it gets back up ready to take on the world.
Bending in the wind, struggling against unfair life
Trying to find at least one ray of pure daylight
To cleanse the everyday stress that comes with living
Colours dulling…Slowly chipping away, pieces of petals going with the breeze
To find somewhere new and safe to hide away
Wind calling, beckoning the flower to fall
“You're not strong enough you never will be” but it turns away and blocks its ears
Refusing to listen because its heart says something else,
Standing strong
Holding its head high
But you can't be strong forever, everyone eventually tires
It lets its shoulders sad, then starts to shed its petals, starting to die, piece by piece
But it won’t be gone forever, it never will be
It will be back again ready to fight in the spring
