The rising storm is upon us,
And we invited her to our shores.
Islands are disappearing and they tell us not to make a fuss, While they keep burning fossil fuels and fighting their wars.
The Industrial Revolution lead to the beginning of the storm, Steam and coal powered our ships and powered our trains.
Now our ice caps are melting and our winters are getting warm, And many animals and delicate ecosystems are feeling the pains.
They tell us that “it's nothing to worry about” or that “its fake news”, While they sit in their private planes and sip champagne,
And yet Tuvalu is going underwater - there’s no more excuse, While ordinary people lose, corporations and governments gain.
As our Earth gets hotter and hotter,
The bushfires in our backyard rage wilder and wilder, And some parts of our country are deprived of water, But most of us grow blinder and blinder.
How lucky are we to have the Great Barrier Reef?
Yet we let it be polluted with straws and needless waste,
And when half of it is gone we’ll surely be in grief,
So the time is now to raise awareness and show some haste.
The rising storm is upon us,
The forces of nature are fighting us to reclaim their lands
We have to reverse this, we have to make a fuss
We need nature to start healing and we need to stop making our demands
