Runners

Thump, thump, thump
The rhythm of my heartbeat
The rhythm of my feet soaring across the ground
Encased in my runners
My goals a few meters ahead
My worries twelve meters behind
The idea of finding someplace new
Running in my runners the colour greyish blue
When the sky is silver without its sheen
And when the sun is behind the clouds
When the sky is celestial blue
And when the sun is hiding from the night
Leading the rhythm of my feet
Across gravel, dirt and sand
Across concrete, grass and synthetic track
Left, right, up, down, and around
Making me remember
Making me forget
One foot after the other
I can go further yet
