Salt Tears

Salt Tears cling to us
As the ashes rain down
And the bush burns quickly, too quickly to save the land
The animals burn, unsafe in their homes
So we can have homes
We flee to the shores, diving into undiscovered waters
Glimpsing the horizon through shallow breaths
Gliding past reality onto something more
Dark tides, thrilling places, ominous sunsets filled with regret
As memory fades with the light of day
How do we move forward?
The ocean is rising, as we deliriously drink from our single-use cups
The reefs are fading as we continue evading
Destiny awaits and the future beckons
Salt tears continue to fall.
