Spores, surging and shaping a vast canopy
Growing, green and gelatinous from its holdfast floor
Towers, transcending and transforming subaqueous life
Waves, wandering and washing through the rocky bed maze
Cold, caressing and cradling leathery blades
Salt, saturating and settling over flailing fronds
Light, luminous and lingering on undulating limbs
Coastal, curving and climatic in an aquatic wilderness
Storms, snapping and severing hulking branches
Kelp, a khaki kaleidoscope in the sublime aquamarine light.
