White whirling mares glimmer as they gallop

Pearly foam swallowing sun-bleached shores

Gulls croon merrily as they bathe in the blinding rays

Stray brinies crest out in the indigo as it bleeds to emerald blue

Autumnal chill settles like a blanket on the dunes

Arching feathered blotches painted on faraway skies

Casting shadows that fade upon melancholy depths

Dune shrubs steadfast, while elsewhere leaves fade to gold

Abrupt cold startles the steeds and they escape their reins

Silvery bodies rollicking, surging, crashing on crystal sand

Adorning wind-battered grass salty jewels

Above, clouds grumble, scowling down at spindly driftwood ghosts

Now the flowers emerge shyly, petals dainty and new

A playful gust snatching at their scent, teasing ‘til they giggle

The tide’s subdued exhale caresses lichen-frosted rocks

In beauties young and old, the serenity is restored
