I soared lonely and free as a bird
That flew over everything, seeing everyone's secrets
Then I saw it
A glimmer of hope
The only thing that matters to me
A lovely long proteus plant

As tall as the world
Reaching up to the stars of the universe
Independently growing

I saw one, not two or three
The trees beside it danced in the wind
Brushing against the self-standing plant
Giving it a warm blanket of hope

I came back the next day
And to my utter horror
The was no longer the long stalk of hope
All my life, washed away
