Every night I go to bed
And see a snuggly toy
I lay down and pick him up
He hears every word I say

He gently helps me get to sleep
As I drift off into dreamworld
I think I hear a gentle voice
Coming into my heart

It’s like a party in my bed
The sheets are everywhere
He gets tossed up and down
He does not really mind

And when I eventually wake up
I search around for him
Shaggy, Shaggy
There you are
My little orange dog

Over forty years old
Loved by mum first
With stitched brown ears
And a rough black nose

Always come and cuddle me
You’ve done so well
