As all the birds rest near the fountains

One flies solo among the mountains

The one who is braver than them all

The orange-bellied parrot she is called

In the swamp gum eating nuts and berries

With the one egg that has survived

The threat of the fox and cat remain in their heart

And threatens them till the day they die

The banksias and wattles shine and grow

The one parrot that has been declining

The bird that once was shining

Can leave us all today

We have our chance

Let’s take a step

And save the orange-bellied parrot
