Skies Above
By April A
From the fertile soil I rise;
Leaves of life stretch far and wide
Beside me is another
Tall and graceful;
Blooming petals forever faithful.
I look up at him above
Then down at him with love
Until one day I see him no-more.
On the soil he lies
Petals weak
No sounds comes out, not even a squeak.
Water soaks my leaves
I feel hopless, I grieve
I look up to the sky
In search of my lost one
My friend, my father...none.
Just when I felt all hope was lost
A green stem emerges from the soil
He looks up at me and sees another
I look down at him and see a brother.
