Soft as a Pillow

Soft as a pillow
eyes shiny as a sphere in outer space
with a special glow on one side.

Old as a piece of broccoli
sitting in your fridge,
just like when Mum bought the teddy when I was born

I haven't shown much affection for my teddy,
my teddy has been sitting in my closet for a year,
I took him out when I was moving all my stuff out into the container for the renos to go underway then I saw a brown object in the back of my closet I picked him up and kept him in my bed ever since we moved
and every night I look at him and think
damn I wish I took you out earlier to give you hugs
and to have you make me have good dreams about good things.
