There once was a time when new things grew,

As wisps of wind and rain calmly blew,

The sky was filled with birds that flew,

Oh, how I wish good times were here,

All I know is that spring is near.

Back then the earth was rich and well,

The environment had a lovely smell,

Your voice echoed if you’d yell,

Oh, how I wish good times were here,

All I know is that spring is near.

Now the earth lives in black mist,

Dancing flames flicker and hiss,

I’m just a tree how must I assist,

Oh, how I wish good times were here,

All I know is that spring is near.

Our friends and families perished away,

No hoses with water left to spray,

All of us left here to slowly decay,

Oh, how I wish good times were here,

All I know is that spring is near.
