Starstruck

When I was two
I wondered why there were many bright lights in the sky
I asked my dad, he ought to know
Why every night these odd things glow
Those little dots are very far
And what you call them is a star
The closet star is called the sun
And provides the energy for the earth to run
If you look closely in the night
You’ll see these stars still shining bright
The stars can change from red to gold
Depending if they’re hot or cold
Another question that I ask
Is how long will these miniscule stars last
The answer to this is not quite clear
I hope at least for another year
When I was two I found stars amazing
And now I’m obsessed with joy of gazing
