Storm

A beautiful basket of sticks and twigs
A gorgeous rhythm of smalls and bigs
Sewn together with a web of white
Not too worried about what’s coming in the dead of night.
Once the sky’s all gone dark and moon’s ablaze
The air falls silent and light decays
An angry sky covers the land
Like a black wolf that’s in command
A thick blanket of fear and gloom
All you can hear is BOOM BOOM BOOM!
A wind picks up, nest can’t withstand
A strong fierce gust is in demand
The nest begins to rock and the eggs start to shake
The nest falls down and the eggs will break
That lovely nest that took days to make
It will hit the ground and two future lives it will take
The eggs hit the ground with a sound so distinct
There goes two lives. All gone. Extinct.
