Whale Poem

Gurruuja’s daalgay is deep & flowing,

majestic & melodic, soft & smooth.

Silky seaweed grazes Gurruuja’s barnacle encrusted skin.

She moves with grace across the aquatic landscape.

Her daalgay is flowing and low pitch,

soothing, almost like a lullaby.

Yugiir dance, nipping & squealing at the other gaagal creatures.

Small plankton flounder past, hoping not to be Gurruuja’s next meal.

Her daalgay echoes throughout the entire Antarctic gaagal,

rippling through schools of yamaarr, swirling through whirlpools.
